As The Outlaw Josey Wales, Clint Eastwood is ideal as a wary, fast drawing loner, akin to the "Man With No Name" from his European Westerns. But unlike that other mythic outlaw, Josey Wales has a name - and a heart.
The heart opens up as the action unfolds. After avenging his family's brutal murder, Wales is pursued by a pack of killers. He prefers to travel alone, but ragtag outcasts are drawn to him - and Wales can't bring himself to leave them unprotected. Time called it one of 1976's best movies. Over time, The Outlaw Josey Wales has secured a placed as one of the top Westerns ever.

FORGET MY NAME ! - 4.5 out of 5 (4/19/1999)
Having seen PALE RIDER and UNFORGIVEN not so long ago, I'm very amazed by the numerous similitudes one can find in THE OUTLAW JOSEY WALES with these two movies Clint Eastwood has directed a few years later. In fact, both movies begin where THE OUTLAW JOSEY WALES ends. After his last fight, Josey will change his name and become the unknown, the pale rider who will defend the gold diggers 9 years later. The scars of the preacher will betray him. Then William Manny, in UNFORGIVEN, will try in vain

Sometimes trouble just follows a man. - 4 out of 5 (4/2/1999)
Normally I dont comment on older titles that are released on DVD, but when a transfer on a film from the early 70's looks this good, I'll make an exception.
Clint Eastwood directs and stars in this classic western that set the stage for his growth into "Unforgiven" territory. You know the story or you wouldn't have accessed this...so without further delay - on with the DVD review. The quality of this picture literally was jaw dropping and eye popping! It looks as if it could be a 1999 release,
