In the Underworld, Vampires are a secret clan of modern aristocratic sophisticates whose mortal enemies are the Lycans (Werewolves), a shrewd gang of street thugs who prowl the city's underbelly. No one knows the origin of their bitter blood feud, but the balance of power between them turns even bloodier when a beautiful young Vampire warrior and a newly-turned Lycan with a mysterious past fall in love. Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman star in this modern-day, action-packed tale of ruthless intrigue and forbidden passion - all set against the dazzling backdrop of a timeless, Gothic metropolis.

Vampires take on werewolves for survival - 4 out of 5 (1/6/2004)
Horror films are full of creepy creatures and things that go bump in the night. Movies such as the classic Universal horror flicks of the thirties have created a whole mythological world inhabited by creatures such as vampires and werewolves. Underworld represents a clash between these two forms of monsters here portrayed as a feud between cultures. While this is an interesting concept for the die hard horror fan the implementation here leaves a bit to be desired. There is an ongoing war between

Vampires in Underground - 4.5 out of 5 (7/12/2004)
For fans of the Vampires genre, here is a new step of evolution.
This movie has a great storyline and introduced a war between Vampires and Werewolves for neo-gothic fans.
A lot of action, good image and the first chapter for obviously sequels.
The features includes Trailers of other Screen Gems Movies (Resident Evil, John Carpenter's Vampires), Video Clip, MAking off and makeup sessions not really interesting, but fun.
The movie takes the best part of this DVD, and better than the collec

Overall Worthy of Horror/Action Buffs - 3.25 out of 5 (2/23/2004)
I was skeptical about Werewolves and Vampires in the same film, how would the film handle these completely different classic horror film characters? Underworld portrays these characters as a viewer would expect with a few new twists. The story line could have used some help I thought to myself as I watched the first 30 minutes of the film, but by the end, the story answered more questions than I anticipated. The story places a new twist on the werewolves and vampires relationship and as most

A hell of alot better then I thought - 4.25 out of 5 (1/22/2004)
The film was a hell of alot better then I thought at first.
Vampires etc seems a bit cheesy, but this movie is really good. Definitly worth buying.
Kate Beckinsale is amazing in her black outfit and makes a great performance.
There is also a nice twist in the story.
Thumbs up from me.
