Synopsis
From producer Jerry Bruckheimer (Pearl Harbor) comes Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl, the thrilling, high-seas adventure with a mysterious twist. The roguish yet charming Captain Jack Sparrow's (Johnny Depp) idyllic pirate life capsizes after his nemesis, the wily Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush), steals his ship the Black Pearl, and later attacks the town of Port Royal, kidnapping the governor's beautiful daughter Elizabeth (Keira Knightley). In a gallant attempt to rescue her and recapture the Black Pearl, Elizabeth's childhood friend Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) joins forces with Jack. What Will doesn't know is that a cursed treasure has doomed Barbossa and his crew to live forever as the undead. Rich in suspense-filled adventure, sword-clashing action, mystery, humor, unforgettable characters and never-before-seen special effects, Pirates is a must-have epic on the grandest scale ever.

Empire Review
stunning! - 5 out of 5  (12/9/2003)
I doubt that anybody could have predicted the success of PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN. I mean if you look at the basics. It was a movie about Pirates and that's not really a hot topic these days. The last movie to tackle the subject was CUTTHROAT ISLAND and it left a stink bomb the size of a rottweiler after a good days feast. The movie was also based on an amusement park ride, and I don't know if you have been to Disney lately, but the lines on that ride aren't that long, you don't even need a   more >>

excelent action flick, good to see non sci-fi action movie. - 4.25 out of 5  (2/3/2004)
I didn't know Jonny Dep could act till I saw this movie. It is well scripted flows very well and has an execlent blend of action and story line keeping the viewer engrosed in the story. Jonny Dep plays the constantly drunk pirate Jack Sparrow, wich he does with exceptional knowledge (Who did he study for that part?). Geoffrey Rush does an excent job as the bad guy. overall an entertaing movie with great appeal for all movie fans.   more >>
