Atlantia Death Squadron...Attack! - 5 out of 5 (11/30/2005)
George Lucas once said that special effects are meaningless unless they are attached to a great story with strong supporting characters. With Battlestar Galactica, this was never more true. The Original Series from 1978-1979 has it all: heroic warriors, sexy women, creepy robotic villians and the larger underlying plot of fugitive humans desperately sailing through the cosmos to reach Earth.
The special effects leave much to be desired...the worst being dogfight footage between Coloni

Fun to see the show - worst transfer ever - 2.25 out of 5 (4/12/2004)
This is not the complete series - none of the episodes where they reach Earth are included. Moreover, this is the absoutely the worst transfer Universal has put out in one of its boxed sets. Painfully obvious travelling mattes, scratches, color timing imbalances, terrible deterioration in the pilot.
The fire episode features wire work and undisguised wires worse than any Ed Wood movie! Shame!
What gives, Universal?!

Late 70's Star Wars sci-fi nostalgia - 3.5 out of 5 (2/3/2004)
If you are feeling particularly nostalgic for that time period than this is perfect for you. Be warned that the disks are double sided and sometimes difficult to get out of holders (I hate it when that happens). Extras are entertaining since the stars Dirk Benedict and Richard Hatch and the rest have interesting stories to tell about the series. Every episode has a great deal of deleted and extended scenes. Here's to Buck Rogers on DVD!
