A Thriller byiJoel Coen & Ethan Coen
"This is a true story. The events depicted in this film took place in Minnesota in 1987. At the request of the survivors, the names have been changed. Out of respect for the dead, the rest has been told exactly as it occurred..."
Nominated for seven Oscars and winner of two, this darkly amusing thriller combines a first-rate cast, "A Dazzling mix of mirth and malice" (Rolling Stone) and a bizarre kidnapping plot that unravels the Midwest like never before. Starring Frances McDormand, William H. Macy and Steve Buscemi, Fargo is a brilliant tour de force from the creators of Raising Arizona and O Brother, Where Art Thou?

Great Film - 4.5 out of 5 (10/8/2003)
Films that are based on true stories tend to be the most interesting, the most eye-catching. We all know that anything can happen in films, but when it has actually happened in real life, that's what makes you stop and think.
Of course, like many other people I watched Fargo for the first time with the misconception that the entire film I was about to view was based on a true story.
Fargo is based around the actions of one man, which sets off a violent chain of bloody murders. Jerry Lunde

Best Film Ever - 5 out of 5 (4/7/2006)
Frances McDormand won an Oscar for her performance in this wonderful dark classic. The film starts by saying it is based on actual events, in truth - that was just a hook to engage the audience. The film is completely fictional. Superb acting/writing with a riviting storyline. This is one of my all-time favorite films.

FARGO A TOTAL FICTION!?!?!?!?!?!? - 4.75 out of 5 (7/6/2004)
Yeah in the begining they say that this film is based on a true story. The Coen Brothers made it as a joke and made the whole thing up...Good Job. I love this movie. It's one of the really really really great last movies I've seen. If u like dark comedies, you will love this one. I like this movie for its dark humor and one of my favorite movies Pulp Fiction and Clockwork ORange and you can sorta blend those in and turn it into Fargo. 5 outt 5 for this masterpiece.
