A Musical To Remember - 4.5 out of 5 (2/25/2002)
A Star Is Born, Oklahoma,The Sound of Music,Funny Girl and Cabaret are all great American Musicals, but they are all very different in their style, storyline and approach. Englishman Christopher Isherwood, wrote about Berlin of the thirties with its unique clubs and outrageous gay scene. The greatest, and most terrifying musical ever made... - 4.75 out of 5 (2/11/2002)
There is a moment in Cabaret that still, all these years later sends a chill up and down my spine. Two male characters are sitting having a drink in an outdoor beer garden outside of Berlin, when a beautiful boy stands up to sing a song. Fantastic! - 4.5 out of 5 (11/10/1998)
This is a truly great movie. I have never been a really great fan of Liza Minnelli, but nobody can deny that this is a bravura performance. She and Joel Gray richly deserved their Oscars. The sound and picture make you forget that the film was made in the early 70's. Features galore too...interviews with the stars and production people, screen tests, a making of feature, etc. Highly Recommended!
