There are bad cops andithere are good cops-and then there's Bullitt.
Detective Frank Bullitt's new assignment seems routine: protecting a star witness for an important trial. But before the night is out, the witness lies dying and the cool, no-nonsense Bullitt (Steve McQueen) won't rest until the shooters-and the kingpin pulling their string are nailed.

A classic action film, presented very nicely on DVD - 4.5 out of 5 (3/29/1999)
Ah, Bullitt.
I bought this film on the word of a friend that it was excellent. How right he was! This classic film, the first to present the "Unorthodox-Cop-On-The-Edge" scenario, played greatly by the immortal Steve McQueen.
The video is presented in anamorphic widescreen or standard on alternate sides of the disc. The widescreen captures the full scope and wonderfulness of the excellent cinematography, while the pan-and-scan at times reveals more at the top and bottom, like in the credit

Wonderful Transfer - 3.75 out of 5 (3/21/1999)
I had never seen this movie before I saw the DVD. I was very impressed with it. The films video is very, very good, especially considering it's over thirty years old. The audio is also good, but I wish it could been in 5.1. Oh well, the film more than makes up for it's lack of features and 5.1, with Steve McQueen at his Cooler-King best and the car chase! Amazing. Gotta love McQueen's green Boss Mustang too.

GREEN MUSTANG & PINK PORSCHE - 4 out of 5 (1/18/1999)
BULLITT is clearly an american film noir of the sixties. Members of the Organisation wear black hats, politicians are rotten and cops have the blues. Furthermore, the music of Lalo Shiffrin brings a cool jazzy atmosphere to the ensemble.
The scene which will stay in my memory isn't the long car chase in the streets of San Francisco but the face of Steve McQueen sitting in the passenger's seat of Jacqueline Bisset's pink Porsche. It's worth multiple viewings.
Warner did a pretty good jod wi
