Empire Review DAYS OF HEAVEN - 2.75 out of 5  (7/18/2001) Terrence Malick is a director who is only rivaled by Monte Hellman as a great that never got his due. In Malick's case, though, it may be because it takes him longer to make a film than it used to take Stanley Kubrick before he passed away. In one chilling scene he seems to summon up clouds of locusts to attack the crop. He has only made three films during the course of nearly thirty years, and each of them have been a true feast for the eyes. Those films are 1973's "Badlands", this film, and his recent triumph "The Thin Red Line". His 1978 film, "Days of Heaven", however, I think remains his best film of the three.
