Higher Education Just Hit A New Low.
An outrageous, sexy comedy from the producers of I Know What You Did Last Summer, Slackers stars breakout talents Devon Sawa (Idle Hands, Final Destination), Jason Schwartzman (Rushmore), James King (Pearl Harbor) and Laura Prepon (TV's That 70's Show).
Crafty roommates Dave, Sam and Jeff are happily scheming their way through college. But when super-nerdy Ethan spots Dave stealing test questions, he threatens to turn them in - unless they hatch a plan to hook him up with beautiful Angela, the object of Ethan's unhealthy obsession. The guys take on the challenge, but when Dave and Angelea start to fall in love instead, all bets are off. And that's when Ethan's antics turn hilariously psychotic.

The name or the disc? - 3.25 out of 5 (5/18/2002)
It's hard not to give respect to a film that has the courage to begin with an orchestral version of "Baba O'Reilly."
In fact I have to admit that that one little fact is one of the things I respected most about SLACKERS, and there were some others too.
That's not to say the film is a great film though. It's a worn plot that's been used too many times and the high points in the film are evenly balanced with some genuinely creepy moments, and these moments are the ones I can't get out of m

DVD omits certain scenes - 3 out of 5 (1/22/2004)
I really liked the movie and wanted to own the DVD and was disappointed that they cut out some scenes that were shown in theaters and on TV on channels like Starz. Basically my complaint is that they didn't do two separate versions like a director's cut if they were going to leave scenes out.

Weirdly strange college comedy - 4 out of 5 (7/24/2002)
At times hilarously funny, "Slackers" is a fun, if at times very weird, comedy of epic proportions. James King plays the girl of everyone's dreams (I know she's in mine) and Jason Schwartzbaums plays the obessessed psycho guy who "has" to have her. Very, very weird. Imagine "Fear" or "Fatal Attration" as a comedy and you'll get the picture.
