Empire Review ll - 4 out of 5  (5/18/1999) The Movie: With the release of Mighty Joe Young, Disney has once again proven that it can produce DVDs with stunning video quality even though their releases are not 16x9 enhanced. Mighty Joe Young is an action/adventure film that is suitable for the entire family (although extremely young children may be somewhat disturbed by parts of the film). The plot of the film is all too familiar and is King Kong in every way except the size of the gorilla. I expected a little more from this movie in a lot of ways. The special effects were good but I've seen better. One problem that I had was that in some of the scenes Might Joe seemed much bigger than others.
