Teenage science genius Paul (Collet) realizes the lab of Dr. Mathewson (Lithgow) his mother's new boyfriend, isn't really developing lasers. It's building nuclear bombs. To expose the lab's secret mission, Paul and his girlfriend Jenny (Nixon) steal some plutonium, build a bomb and enter it in a science fair. But the military learns of Paul's plans and pursues him with lethal force. Now, as time is running out, only Dr. Mathewson can save Paul...and stop the unthinkable from occurring!

Good film, okay disc - 3 out of 5 (6/10/2002)
THE MANHATTAN PROJECT was a thriller born from the same cold war horror that gave us WARGAMES, BLUE THUNDER and SHORT CIRCUIT, but this film stands above the rest of those films as a true testament of the horror that could befall us all if a smart kid got a hold of the wrong type of weapon and tried to make a point with it.
The smart kid here is Paul Stevens (Christopher Collet) who is not just a smart kid, but also a savvy kid who knows when to show off and when to shut up. In school, he u

Manhattan Project - C+ - 3.25 out of 5 (6/9/2002)
That C+ is only because I love this film. The sound isn't radically improved, and the picture is poorly mastered for disc. If at all. Particularly during the opening credits, there is a fuzziness in the titles. Now this is rather atmospheric against the trees and mist as Trucks first arrive at the Nuclear Laboratory, however, it's also tacky as hell. There is a trailer.
