Nothing Is As Simple As Black And White.
When 90's teens David and Jennifer get zapped into the perfect suburbia of the black & white '50's sitcom, PLEASANTVILLE, what results in a "visionary adventure" that Siskel and Ebert give "Two big thumbs up!"
Pleasantville's perfect people include a mild-mannered soda jerk, a socially repressed mom, and a father who always knows best. But, when '90's pop culture clashes with '50's family values, chaos ensues, turning the town of Pleasantville upside down and black and white into color.

jj - 4.75 out of 5 (5/18/1999)
The Movie:
When Pleasantville was released into theaters there were many complaints as to how the black and white looked on the big screen, as the black didn't really look black and white due to various technical reasons. The DVD however, looks incredible and is another wonderful job by New Line. Lets take a look.
When I first saw the previews for this film I thought that it looked interesting but not all that great. Boy, was I wrong. Pleasantville is an excellent movie

Pleasantville- one my favorites of 1998 - 4.75 out of 5 (8/8/1999)
I'm not much for movie synopsis, especially since, chances are you already know what Pleasantville is all about. But anyway, here goes.
David and Jennifer are bickering siblings of a single mother. Mom is going away for the weekend and the kids have their plans all worked out. Jennifer is finally getting her dream boyfriend to come over for what obviously isn't a study date, while David is dreaming of the $1000 prize for winning the "Pleasantville" television show trivia contest which will be h

Good film, good features - 4.25 out of 5 (6/27/1999)
Pleasntville was a very good film about two modern day teens who are zapped back into a perfect 1950's sitcom. However, upon their arrival into the town Pleasantville, the black and white world slowly changes to color upon a time of change. Very good drama and lessons to be learned.
The DVD features are great. Commentaries, PC features, some nice stuff.
A DVD to buy if you were a fan of the movie.
