Synopsis
When a beautiful parlor maid (Elke Sommer) is accused of murdering her lover, the nutty Inspector (Sellers) leaps...er, falls...into the fray to save her in this irrepressibly funny Pink Panther classic.
The French have a word for a man like Clouseau: idot! Across Paris, baffled citizens want to know if the inspector is in hot pursuit of a criminal...or just in love with one! Mistakenly assigned to a high-prestige case in which a millionaire's chauffer has been murdered, Clouseau finds himself falling for the prime suspect - a beautiful parlormaid whose talent for being in the wrong place at the wrong time is almost as great as his. But as the body count grows higher, and the parlormaid's criminal record grows longer, Clouseau realizes he'll have to find the "real" culprit quickly or his career will be flint!

the best - 4.25 out of 5  (4/25/2002)
no question the best in the panther series, and possibly one of sellers best ever.... right along with murder by death.   more >>

Sellers and Sommer have great chemistry - 3 out of 5  (12/5/2001)
In this, the second of the Pink Panther film series, Peter Sellers made his mark as the famous and bumbling Inspector Clouseau. Although he seems like a complete idiot, he is actually right about this murder case in a very small way... the fact that he manages to solve the case is pure luck. Elke Sommer was a sex symbol in the 60's and this was one of the first films she had done in English. She never actually believed she would become a famous actor, even after a famous director grabbed her for   more >>

The best of the Pink Panther Series - 3.75 out of 5  (4/10/1999)
This is still my favorite of the Pink Panther series. The original PP was OK, but Peter Sellers outdid himself in this movie. Elke Sommers is great as the accused maid. A four star performance by Herbert Lom. Kato is great as Seller's butler. The nudist camp is a stitch, since nothing is shown, but the inyuendos are well done. The best of the series.
