The Greatest Of All Time? - 3 out of 5 (5/5/2002)
Michael Mann's Ali is a well-filmed and entertaining look at the life of former heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali, but it lacks any revealing information into the true feelings or background of this complex man - most of what we see in Ali we have already seen in numerous footage featuring the real Ali over the years, and there isn't enough of the "behind the scenes" stuff for the viewer to really come away from the movie with an idea of who the man behind the persona is. The once and future champ in a realistic biopic - 4.25 out of 5 (5/5/2002)
One of he most difficult film genres to master is that of the biography. This difficulty is compounded greatly when the subject is a living legend like Muhammad Ali. So many people are familiar with the champ. After all, this is a man that has been at the center of much controversy and has had most of his professional life documented to the tiny piece of trivia. Will...not disappoint!!! - 4.5 out of 5 (6/13/2002)
Will Smith and Michael Mann take on Muhammed Ali with maximum perfection.

It tells the story of the rise of the greatest into the boxing world, his victories in both the rumble in the jungle and thrilla in manilla, his funny confrontations with Howard Cosell, who is remarkably impersonated and portayed by Jon Voight, and his many wives, which he calls a "weakness towards women".
the only thing i disliked about this DVD were the special features...not too many featur

Close, but no bananna - 3.25 out of 5 (6/7/2002)
I keep hoping some nice exec in Hollywood will approach Wil Smith and break him the news that he CANNOT ACT. Wil's portrayal of Cassius Clay is mediocre at best. Supporting actors and actresses in this film cannot save him. Trust me, Wil. Stick to "Gettin' Jiggy With It."
