Fantastic animated adventure from Miyazaki! - 4.5 out of 5 (11/17/2003)
CASTLE IN THE SKY is master animator Hayao Miyazaki's third film, and it's one of his most beloved of all time. This is not to say, however, that it was one of his greatest hits. It was actually a box office disappointment in its initial release in 1986, but has since been embraced by critics and audiences around the world. A classic eveyone needs to see - 4.25 out of 5 (4/22/2003)
This is the 3rd Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli film, and like all the others before and after it is great.
It seems this film was not given the same great treatment that Kiki's ,Mononoke, and Spirited Away got. The video shows its age a little, and there is a Japanese Soundtrack but it is only surround, and not 5.1
Even though this release is a little weaker that the other Disney releases of Miyazaki's work it is still worth picking up. It's still a great film, and the extras are on par with Disne

Hayao Miyazaki combines a perfect blend of intrigue, adventure, and timeless qualities of childhood innocence to deliver a story that is complete in form and function. Too often we see anime that is ultra violent or tries to push the limits of sexual thresholds often numbing the viewer to the shock of what is being presented.
