Empire Review Still a Great Dsiney film! - 4.25 out of 5  (5/22/2003) The resounding thud that accompanied the release of TREASURE PLANET was the latest embarrassment felt by Disney Animation studios. The movie cost 140 Million to make and it grossed back only 40 Million of that before it faded quietly from theaters. The only high point that accompanied the movie was an Oscar nomination, but even that seemed bitter sweet because it isn't hard to get an Oscar nod for Best Animated film when the pickings are so slim.
