Synopsis
The First Certified Crazy Person's Comedy.

With his daughter about to marry, Manhattan dentist Sheldon Kornpett is getting in over his head. The groom's father Vince Ricardo (who may/may not be CIA) has been in over his head so long he may have lost it totally. As played by Alan Arkin and Peter Falk, they're as different as night and day-and one of the funniest screen teams ever as The In-Laws. (The 2003 remake The Wedding Party stars Michael Douglas and Albert Brooks.)

Throw in a uniquely zany script by Andrew Bergman (Blazing Saddles, Fletch) and snappy direction by Arthur Hiller (The Americanization of Emily, The Hospital) and you have a wild and woolly comedy that doesn't stop. The In-Laws is a scream.

Empire Review
Not such a great disc, but what a Movie! - 3.25 out of 5  (5/22/2003)
There should be certain laws for remakes of films and the chief one should be that Once a film is done right the first time, nobody and I mean nobody should get the right to do it again. Which is why I wonder why they have to make a remake of THE IN-LAWS with Michael Douglas and Albert Brooks when the original with Peter Falk and Alan Arkin is still around to do the trick. THE IN-LAWS is a timeless example of what comedy looks like when it's done right. Peter Falk and Alan Arkin play of   more >>
