Synopsis "Knockaround Guys packs plenty of cold-blooded firepower!" -Larry Ratliff, St. Antonio Express-News When you're in the mob, there's no room for mistakes or feelings. Matty (Barry Pepper) finds this out the hard way when his crew loses a bag of cash in a remote town in the Midwest while trying to live up to his mob boss father's aspirations (Dennis Hopper). When Matty's childhood friend Marbles (Seth Green) fails to retrieve the money, his best friend Taylor (Vin Diesel) hatches a plan to get it back, but crooked cops control the town and the situation quickly spirals out of control. Uncle Teddy (John Malkovich) rolls into town to fix the situation and to teach Matty once and for all what being "in the family" is all about. The trap is set and when it's sprung, it's as action-packed as it is devastating. Empire Review Better than you might think - 4 out of 5  (5/22/2003) Critics were quick to dismiss KNOCKAROUND GUYS as the movie that should have stayed on the shelf it languished for years. The film benefits from a hot cast that includes a mixture of Up and Comers, veterans and red hot superstars. The up and comers are Barry Pepper and Seth Green while Dennis Hopper and John Malkovich represent the veterans and of course Vin Diesel is the red hot guy right now. In fact it probably isn't too presumptuous to assume that his name alone dragged this flick off th   more >> Customer Review Solid Crime Caper - 3.5 out of 5  (3/1/2003) Solid entertainment, if not entirely memorable, KNOCKAROUND GUYS is full of gangster movie cliches, but never are they presented in the way you really expect. Some interesting casting and a great set-up is marred by a predictable hollywood Face/Off style finale shoot-out. Some good performances (Disel is actually watchable, before he sold out to make trash like xXx)and Barry Pepper as always turns in a solid performance.
