Synopsis Custer of the West is a spectacular production based on the tumultuous story of the hero who became a legend, General George Custer. Following his service in the Civil War, General Custer goes West to take over the 7th Cavalry. He is ordered by General Sheridan, for political reasons, to drive an Indian tribe off their reservation due to the discovery of gold on their land. Following the attack, Custer is recalled to Washington to testify before Congress when he reveals graft and corruption in connection with President Grant. Finally, with the help of Sheridan, he is returned to his assignment and begins his expedition to Little Big Horn. Custer of the West probes into General Custer's own thinking and reveals the motivations that sent him on his road to glory and doom.
