From theicorrupt minds that brought you Pulp Fiction andiAmerican Psycho
Forget everything you thought you knew about higher education. Academy Award-winning writer/director Roger Avary masterfully takes you back to school and drops you in the middle of the drugged-out, sexed-up lives of some of Camden College's most disaffected students. Meet Sean Bateman (James Van Der Beek), a womanizing drug dealer whose quest for connection brings him face to face with Lauren (Shannyn Sossamon), a sensitive virgin looking for love but saving herself for the much sought-after Victor (Kip Pardue). All the while, Paul Denton (Ian Somerhalder) wants to make a connection of his own...with Sean. Based on the best-selling novel by Bret Easton Ellis' darkly funny satire of life, love and the pursuit of social debauchery.

A very pretty film. A very lacklustre adaptation. - 4 out of 5 (2/21/2003)
I, like many people I know went though a Bret Easton Ellis phase in high school. American Psycho was my bible and I truly felt the man a genius. One of my favorite books by Ellis was and still is The Rules of Attraction. Imagine my dismay when I found out that cotton candy media icon James Van Der Beek was pinned to play the lead role? I was a little more than disgusted. Then again, this did mean the bigheaded "cutie" would have to make out with another guy and that couldn't be all bad, rig

Almost American Pie Goes Sour - 3.25 out of 5 (12/30/2004)
I expected this movie to be a little more racier, but where it lacked, some of the imagery can burn into you. Not just a love triangle, but a confused mess of college students blind to what is actually happening, but caught up in his and hers own fantasies. No happy endings here, but it makes for some twisted humor, really feeling sorry for some people.

Intense!!! - 3.25 out of 5 (2/24/2003)
After seeing what they did with Bret's book American Psycho, this movie was not high on my list. I was surprised how good this movie really was. This is a great book made into a good movie. Just buy it,dont worry about renting it first. However i would of liked to see Jessica Biel taking on the whole football team.
