Mermaid in a Manhole and He Never Dies are extreme examples of hard-core Japanese shock cinema that should be in every gore hound's library. An infamous painter looking for inspiration visits the place of his childhood. In the years that have passed, the beautiful river where he used to play has been turned into a sewer. They say that beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. That comes easy as the painter finds a mermaid in the depths of the sewer. He remembers that she visited him when he was a kid and has since haunted his mind. He realizes that the mermaid has a disease, and brings her to his home to care for her. This is where the dream stops and the nightmare begins in the Mermaid in the Manhole. He Never Dies is a gore-soaked comedy that should thrill and disgust everyone who sees it. The tale begins in Tokyo, with a man tired of the status quo of the daily grind. He takes off from his job, locking himself in his small apartment. As his mind starts to lose grip on reality, he decides to kill himself by slashing his wrist. He notices that the blood stops and his death is far from close. Thus begins a self-mutilation spree that has to be seen to be believed. Mermaid in a Manhole is just outragous in gore and mood. It's about this painter who finds a mermaid in a sewer. She has some sort of disease so he takes her home to try to take care of her. Not only does she get worse in horrificly disgusting manner where pus and worms explode out of her body. She mutates into this creature of putrescent design that should leave any horror fan yelping for more. He Never Dies   more >>
