The Masters Of Italian Terror Present The Most Unholy Horror Of All.
In medieval Europe, crusading knights massacre a village full of suspected devil worshippers and build a large gothic church above the cursed remains. It is now present day, and this elaborate cathedral still stands. But when its sealed crypt is accidentally reopened, a group of people trapped inside the church become possessed by the fury of the damned. Can the blood of the innocent survive this unholy communion or will the ultimate demonic evil be unleashed upon the world?
The Church was co-written and produced by maestro Dario Argento (Suspiria) and sealed the reputation of director Michele Soavi (Stagefright, Cemetery Man) as the new master of Italian horror. Originally known as Demons 3, this visually stunning shocker co-stars Tomas Arana (Gladiator) and Asia Argento, features a remarkable score by Goblin and Keith Emerson, and is now presented uncut, uncensored and fully restored from original vault materials.

Going back to church - 4 out of 5 (2/25/2002)
THE CHURCH was originally designed to be the third chapter in the DEMONS
trilogy. In fact the working title of the film was originally called DEMON
CATHEDRAL... But it has also been known as DEMONS 3, CATHEDRAL OF DEMONS and
LA CHIESA.
Looking at the film, you get the sense of where it is going, but it also
has several other stories going on at the same time and the result is a
mixture of being a lousy sequel and a decent original plot.
Dario Argento conceived the plot and he chose

Pray you don't end up in this church - 3.5 out of 5 (2/7/2003)
The basic premise works quite well, if far from the first use of this theme. What sets it apart is the cinematography and the setup.
The setup includes the Teutonic knights' massacre of suspected devil worshipers, followed by their burial and a great tracking shot that begins in the catacombs where the bodies lie under a huge cross, up through the subterranean vaults and into the church vestbule.
One of the best visual links of past to present day you're likely to see.
