An All-Star Cast In A "Classic Psychological Thriller!" -Compuserve
In the tradition of Stir of Echoes and Final Destination, Donnie Darko is an edgy, psychological thriller about a suburban teen coming face-to-face with his dark destiny. Jake Gyllenhaal leads a star filled cast (including Drew Barrymore, Noah Wyle, Jena Malone, Patrick Swayze and Mary McDonnell) as a delusional high school student visited by a demonic rabbit with eerie visions of the past and deadly predictions for the future. This "excitingly original" (Entertainment Weekly) nail-biter will keep you on the edge of your seat until the mind-bending climax.

Dark tale of alternate timelines and suburban life - 4.25 out of 5 (1/27/2003)
One thing that independent films can do that is not usually seen with major Hollywood releases is to explore the stranger aspects of life and imagination. When it comes to the unusual Donnie Darko is up near the top of any list. Donnie (Jake Gyllenhaal) is a high school student. Although his test scores are beyond the top he is extremely troubled. On medication for sleepwalking and under professional care Donnie is likeable if not a bit on the dark side. After skipping his medication he sleepwal

An intriguing film - 4.25 out of 5 (2/25/2002)
DONNIE DARKO is one of those films that have become well known for what it
didn't become.
It's a clever film that poses a mystery and it does a decent job at solving
that mystery. However, it's not a solution that I could explain nor is it
one I understood. Just the same though, in the spirit of BEING JOHN
MALKOVICH, this film also uses fresh ideas and situations to tell a story
that is entertaining if not completely understandable.
Drew Barrymore who also has a role in the film as

the most original movie of the decade - 4.25 out of 5 (5/20/2003)
Donnie Darko is, to put it simply, one of the best films i have ever seen. Admittedly, it is not for everyone; the film's atmosphere is extremly dark and oppressive, but visually the film is flawless. The plot incorporates so many aspects, including romance, violence, paranoia, and even time travel (the ending will blow you away). I truly cannot reccomend this movie enough. buy it buy it buy it.

Dancing In The Darko - 4.25 out of 5 (3/25/2003)
I've heard so much about this movie and its reportedly incomprehensible ending that I avoided it for a long time. Then I caught a few minutes of it on pay cable one night and immediately turned it off so I could pick up the DVD and watch the whole thing from the beginning.
This is a great movie, folks. I don't just mean a good movie...a great one. Director (and writer) Richard Kelly is a true talent and I look forward to his future projects. He kind of reminds me of a young David Lynch wi
