"Fast-Paced [and] Very Entertaining!" -Variety
A "startling, stunning, outrageous [and] breathtaking debut" (Los Angeles Times) from acclaimed writer/director Mel Brooks (Young Frankenstein, Spaceballs), this Oscar winning comedy combines "pure pell-Mel lunacy [and] wild, ad-lib energy [into an] uproariously funny" (Time) film!
Low rent Broadway producer Max Bialystock (Zero Mostel) and his high-strung accountant Leo Bloom (Gene Wilder) discover that, with the help of a few gullible investors, they can make more money on a flop than on a hit! Armed with the worst show ever written (Springtime for Hitler) and an equally horrific cast, this double dealing duo is banking on disaster. But when their sure-to-offend musical becomes a smash hit, they find themselves in the middle of a Broadway blitzkrieg!

Fantastic - 5 out of 5 (11/15/2002)
THE PRODUCERS is the funniest film ever made.
That's all you need to know if you didn't already. But you probably do. Throughout all of its success throughout the years, from its well-deserved Oscar for Best Original Screenplay to its current incarnation as Broadway's biggest smash (an equally well-deserved smash it is), THE PRODUCERS has always been gut-bustingly funny. Although it's now 35 years old, THE PRODUCERS doesn't seem to age at all. "Springtime For Hitler" is still one of the f

Allrighty.. Here goes... - 2.5 out of 5 (6/6/2003)
Now, maybe for all those people who originally saw this film in the theaters back in the day... maybe you guys really love this movie. I, however, have to say this is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I'm 23 years old, and I can sit through any movie... but this one was awful. In all seriousness, I was really looking forward to seeing it (I had heard good reviews.. the whole Broadway production thing..), but I didn't laugh once. I slightly chuckled 3 times. All the jokes come off a

Brilliant - 3.75 out of 5 (12/10/2002)
Mel Brook's finest effort (sorry Young Frankenstein). The sight gags are priceless, the lines timed perfectly. You have the opportunity to see Wilder in one of his earliest roles. Mostel is wonderful as Max, the down trodden Broadway Producer. The role of the Late Dick Shawn may seem to be a bit dated, but this is a wonderful period piece from the 60's. I had the pleasure in seeing it in it's original release and the DVD does an excellent job in restoring the quality of the first run showing (th
