Let theisquashing begin!
What do you get when you cross toxic waste with a bunch of exotic spiders? Eaten!!!
The townies of Prosperity, Arizona, will all become a screaming smorgasbord if mutated arachnids as big as SUV's have their way in this comedy/horror crowd pleaser whose creators include the producers of Independence Day and Godzilla. Spiders that leap like gazelles, web-spitting spiders, spiders that suck your inside through a straw- they're among the behemoths conjured up by an inventive effects team. David Arquette heads the two-legged stars, mobilizing the citizenry in a last ditch fight to survive. Here's hoping they succeed. Otherwise Prosperity- maybe the world -may be reduced to one giant, uh, website!

Not as bad as it seems - 4 out of 5 (10/21/2002)
Some of the best Science Fiction films that Hollywood has given us are those
of the giant radioactive monster variety. EIGHT LEGGED FREAKS was billed as
Dean Devlin's loving testament to those films.
And in that respect the film does succeed. It's a fast paced, funny film
with a few frightening moments and that makes it worth a watch.
But the critics were not kind to this film. Some missed the joke, and
others just missed the jokes and the film missed the boat in the theater. It

A bit of B grade film thrown into a good movie - 3.5 out of 5 (4/22/2003)
As I love spiders, it was a good depiction of spiders if they were big like us, the story line was rather good, and the ffects were great especially the jumping spiders, A bit of B gradeness was thrown into this movie, which made it in places a bit silly, but overall a good version of an old freaky movie of the sixties you could say.Worth a watch.

Top 20 of 2002 - 3.75 out of 5 (10/30/2002)
This widescreen version of Eight Legged Freaks is a very good movie from Warner Brothers. Don't let negative reviews sway you from buying this title because it is better than you think and has a very good host of supplements to keep you busy for some time. The video and audio are great. This is a must-buy.
