A chilling tale! - 3.75 out of 5 (10/4/2000)
"Apt Pupil" is a film that deals with one of the most disturbing events in history. It's a hard tale to hear when Kurt Dussander speaks of his triumphs as a Nazi, but it drives the point home that there are monsters in your own neighborhood that aren't ones you can kill with a cross.
It also drives a point that the most innocent can be seduced by what they hear. Todd Bowden hears the tale of the holocaust and he reacts, unfortunately the way most of us might. he slides to the end of his chair

Didn't think I'd like it. However... - 3.75 out of 5 (12/28/1999)
Didn't think I'd like it. However, I ended up liking this flick.
This could almost be an extended episode of "Twilight Zone" or "Tales From The Crypt." Although there is a dash or horror in this one, I would put it in the "thriller" category. The movie didn't really grab me from the beginning, but there was enough to keep me interested... and then I was being fed more and more that made my interest and curiosity grow and grow!!!
DVD: Very good p/s and w/s transfer. Sound is averag

Evil is everywhere. - 3.75 out of 5 (7/11/1999)
I first read Stephen King's "Apt Pupil" in ninth grade. It was such a horrific, repulsive story that I couldn't get it out of my mind. I don't think I've ever completely gotten it out. It certainly didn't seem to be a story fit for a movie?at least not one that hoped to make a profit. But like most of King's works, this one eventually found its way to the big screen, and the results are equally powerful.
A brilliant young high school student, Todd (Renfro) learns that a mysterious, hermit

Tense psychological experience - 4 out of 5 (4/15/1999)
This film maintains a good sence of scariness most of the way through. Although the movie is tense, it can be slow at times. Also, I would have liked to see how the story effects the main characters relationship with his parents and his best friend more (although I agree the story should mainly involve the 2 main characters most of the time). Getting them involved might of made the movie more exciting. Still, overall, this is a great film from start to finish. Bryan Singer and his attention
