"Two big thumbs up!" -Ebert & Roeper
Beware the low men. Bobby Garfield couldn't possibly know what that means. But before the summer is over, he'll know... and he'll summon depths of courage and forgiveness he never imagined he had.
Anthony Hopkins headlines this nostalgically atmospheric film set in small-town Connecticut in 1960. He portrays Ted Brautigan, a mysterious, psychically gifted loner who becomes a mentor and father figure to Bobby (Anton Yelchin) when he enlists the boy's help in eluding the shadowy figures who seek control of Ted's powers. Directed by Scott Hicks (Shine) and based on the book by Stephen King, Hearts In Atlantis is "a wonderful, wonderful movie" (Joel Sigel, Good Morning America/ ABC-TV).

What a film! - 4.25 out of 5 (2/11/2002)
It's funny how I've come to look at Stephen King these days. It used to be that I looked forward to a new King horror movie more than anything, and I never thought he was capable of anything else.
But now I have to confess that I couldn't give a hoot about his latest horror opus. I'll just catch it on DVD at some point and try not to judge it too harshly against what he has previously done.
But when I get wind of a non-horror project involving the man, I get this strange and funny feelin

Worth every penny - 4.75 out of 5 (2/17/2002)
I saw this movie in the theater when it came out and I was in awe at how good this movie was. I can only stress this again as to anyone that has not viewed the film, take 20 bucks and invest in a great keeper. The characters, the plot, the theme, just everything about this movie is perfect and fascinating. I too am looking forward to more SK stories that have nothing to do with horror, just more on the humans being.
