GET THE SPECIAL EDITION OR LIMITED EDITION - 3 out of 5 (7/23/2000)
I owned a copy of this release of the movie before I owned a copy of the limited edition set.
Allow me to say that this transfer sucked. An excellent movie like "Halloween" should never have been insulted like this one.
THIS edition just has the original trailer. Also, it is a double sided disc (which are annoying to handle). PLUS, this version had jumpy, blocky video at many points.
The Special Edition has a lot of extras and is a HELL of a lot better. Don't be insulted, and spend the

this movie was a great thriller.i jumped alot through out the movie. this movie was great. everything was great but the features. so i recamed this film for people that love horror. theres not that much gore.

HALLOWEEN fans will find nothing special here in this presentation.
The DVD offers mediocre video with limp mono sound and no real extras (laser owners thankfully can by Criterion's edition with commentary and loads more).
But there is a hope.
Carpenter and Alan Howarth are working on a special edition with a dobly remixed soundtrack and new extras.
Save your money and wait!
