Fear Is A Place.
It looms up out of the woods like a dormant beast. Grand, imposing... abandoned and deteriorating, the Danvers State Mental Hospital, closed down for 15 years is about to receive 5 new visitors.
Donning protective gear, the men of the Hazmat Elimination Co. venture into the eerily vast and vacant asylum that is filled with an evil and mysterious past. Rampant patient abuse, medieval medical procedure and rumors of demonic possession are some of the many dark secrets the hospital holds - but then so do each of the men.

A grand horror film - 4.25 out of 5 (2/25/2002)
SESSION 9 is one of the best true horror movies I have seen.
But there are bound to be countless people out there who disagree with me.
Because of the relentlessly slow buildup of the plot. You see SESSION 9 is
never an outright horror film with a villain with a rich detailed history
like a Freddie Krueger. In fact the movie has almost no possibility of a
sequel and that perhaps is what I loved most.
Instead the film is a relentless walk for five main characters faced with

Had great potential, but didn't quite make it all the way... - 3.5 out of 5 (3/29/2004)
Don't get me wrong. This movie is not bad. The problem is, it's not really bad-ass either. This is all very strange because it has all the ingredients it needs. Great actors, good story & great scenography. The environments cash in most points for this movie. Very "Silent Hill" minus the monsters. Just take a look at the front of the DVD case and you'll understand.
So what is wrong with it?
The first thing is the pacing of the movie. For the first hour, you're not sure if this is a horror mov

A modern day 'Shining' to keep you on the edge of your seat. - 3.75 out of 5 (3/15/2002)
Session 9 was a nice surprise. Eerie and moody throughout, it had nice feelings of isolation as in the Shining. Great performances, creepy music, and a lot of head scratching until the final creepy payoff. Highly recommended, a little different, well filmed, overall, very well done.

Blind horror at it's best! - 4.5 out of 5 (3/4/2002)
I get so tired of trying to find a good horror flick that will actually make me feel uncomfortable watching it, something that make me put my foot back on the bed instead of just letting it dangle off the edge. Forget all those zombie/slasher movies that critics say "goriest and scariest of all time","this is the one that started it all" Those sayings were true for movies WHEN THEY WERE MADE but not in these times. This movie will creep you out. This movie uses location and imagination. Imaginat
