The Greatest Love Story Ever Told
With a stunning music score by John Williams, top direction, and excellent cast, Charlotte Bronte's Victorian novel blazes on the screen under the directing talents of Delbert Mann. Although filmed on numerous occasions, this version features landmark performances by George C. Scott, Susannah York, Ian Bannen, Jack Hawkins, and Nyree Dawn Porter.
York is Jane Eyre, the orphaned girl who secures a position as governess to the ward of Edward Rochester (George C. Scott), Lord of the English manor house "Thornfield", whose halls hide a dark and sinister secret, Jane Eyre and the moody Rochester soon fall in love and marry. But on the fated wedding day, Rochester's dark past comes back to haunt him and his innocent new bride.
This DVD Platinum Edition includes two bonus features. An 18 minute short written by and starring WC Fields, The Golf Specialist features Fields at his best as he tries to teach the game of golf to the wife of a hotel detective. Field's caddy steals the show and often up-stages Fields in this classic comedy.
A hilarious look at the biggest stars at their funniest moments, Breakdowns of 1936 offers every blunder and blooper possible from Warner Bros biggest pictures of that year. These are the actual bloopers that were highlighted at the 1936 Academy Award® ceremonies.

Susannah York was the surprise, able to carry Jane off with as much conviction as she did - not an easy part and perhaps she lacks some of the spirited 'front' of Bronte's Jane.
