The heat's back on! Eddie Murphy is cool as ever in this sizzling, smash-hit sequel to Beverly Hills Cop.
Axel Foley (Murphy) is back -- back where he doesn't belong! He's going "deep, deep, deep undercover" into the chic wilds of Southern California, unleashing his arsenal of blazing gunfire and rapid-fire gags against a gang of international munitions smugglers.
Back, too, are Judge Reinhold and John Ashton as Murphy's crime-busting sidekicks. And Top Gun's director Tony Scott keeps the pace fast, furious and funny.

I've been slogging through the rash of sequels that have come out as of late
and I finally got to see the one that I was looking most forward to.
BEVERLY HILLS COP 2 was the centerpiece of the trilogy (which supposedly is
on it's way to being a quartet right now) and it was the least respected
version critically, but the audience better received it. I also have to
admit that I liked it a little better and I definitely feel that it aged
better than the other two films.

Not good. Sequels aren't always good. The third one sucks big. Don't buy it. OK extras, good audio and video. Come on, Eddie! Get some better jokes! SECOND THOUGHTS INTENDED

Axel Returns to Beverly Hills In This Knockout Sequel - 4 out of 5 (2/5/2002)
Beverly Hills Cop was the film that launched Eddie Murphy to blockbuster superstardom. It was his first leading role in a movie following his supporting work in 48 Hrs. and Trading Places. It was also one of the top box office hits of all time at the point of its release, illustrating that Murphy had truly arrived as a superstar sensation, so it was inevitable that a sequel should be made. Three years after the first film's release, Beverly Hills Cop II arrived in theaters and like its predecess

blast from the past vists the digital future - 3.75 out of 5 (2/2/2002)
it is refreshing to see some of the odd titles coming out on dvd. bev2 is a blast from the past but it looks absolutely stellar in its digital form.
the audio is also paramount pictures standard, excellent. this is my first time viewing bev2 in surround and i am not dissapointed. now all we need is real genius on dvd and heaven will be a place on earth.
