In Terry Gilliam's fantastic voyage through time and space, a young boy named Kevin (Craig Warnock) escapes his gadget-obsessed parents to join a band of time-traveling dwarves. Armed with a map stolen from the Supreme Being (Ralph Richardson), they plunder treasure from Napoleon (Ian Holm) and Agamemnon (Sean Connery)--but the Evil Genius (David Warner) is watching their every move! Featuring a darkly playful script by Gilliam and costar Michael Palin, Time Bandits is all at once giddy fairy tale, revisionist history lesson, and satire in technology gone awry.

Time Bandits - 3.75 out of 5 (6/17/2001)
One night when Kevin, an extraordinary boy with very ordinary parents, goes to bed a knight on horseback comes crashing through his closet door and rides off leaving no trace that he was ever there. The next night a band of midget robbers come through the same closet door. As they are talking to Kevin, an ominous floating head approaches the group. They grab Kevin and run off into a portal of some sort. When they land, Kevin finds himself in the early 1800's in a town outside of France. The town

A fun and crazy movie! - 3.5 out of 5 (9/29/2001)
Terry Gilliam is nuts. You will see what I mean after seeing this. This movie has to be watched in a certain way and by a certain audience. If your a "Terry Fan" you will like it because it has most of his signature techniques. The story is a little weird but is very entertaining. The DVD's features aren't amazing....but it says Criterion on the top of the box so you should buy it over that "brand x" Anchor Bay version.

A WORK IN PROGRESS - 4 out of 5 (5/16/1999)
Great ideas, superb cinematography but average movie. Terry Gilliam's TIME BANDITS is the perfect example of the - could have been the best - movie. While I watched this DVD, I couldn't help myself to think : why but why am I not excited by such delirious images ?
TIME BANDITS isn't a child's dream. Even if Kevin's adventures seem to emerge from the books he has read. Gulliver, the Minotaur, the Trojan wars, Napoleon, Robin Hood are familiar figures to a boy always lost in his imaginary world
