1941 - worth a second look - 4 out of 5 (4/21/2002)
I first saw this one on HBO in about '81. I wasn't blown away, but like many of my friends, I was compelled to watch it repeatedly. Simply because it's so packed with scenes, which can't possibly be catalogued into any one person's memory. It's not one of Steven Spielberg's best films, however, it isn't his worst. That being a matter of opion hotly debated since his last picture was released, I won't go into that one. For those who are fans of this picture, you'll be happy to know that all

Very Poor Transfer to DVD, not worth buying. - 2.25 out of 5 (11/16/2001)
The transfer to DVD was very poor... it looked bad, very bad, on my 110" projection system. Don't bother buying unless you're watching on a small screen. Audio is poor.

While not funny, it shows some Speilberg classic moments. - 4 out of 5 (4/4/1999)
When Speilberg was a youth, he would take home movies in old war planes, etc. He often imagined filming war movies, from a kid's point of view.
Well, many years later, Speilberg was given permission to do so and the result is 1941. The movie was promoted by Universal Studios as a great comedy, but it is not.
