A Diabolical Story Becomes A City's Worst Nightmare!
Dario Argento brings you this year's most chilling serial killer thriller with Sleepless, a horrifying tale of terror and murder. A series of grisly murders paralyze the city and match the work of a serial murderer who appeared to have escaped the authorities, disappearing without a trace seventeen years earlier. Only one man, retired police chief Moretti (Max von Sydow) knows the case and has what it takes to catch the killer.

A good film, a sorry disc - 3 out of 5 (12/14/2001)
SLEEPLESS marks the return of a grand master to the cinema. It is the latest
film from Horror Master Dario Argento, and the film seems a homecoming of
sorts. Though the film may seem to rely on more gore than the traditional
Argento film, you can still see traces of his mastery at suspense creeping
through.
The film starts with the puzzle of a child watching his mother murdered
before his very eyes. Giacomo stares out in horror as his mother is stabbed
with her own musical instrument (

A Very Entertaining Return to What Argento Does Best - 3 out of 5 (3/10/2009)
Who else can give you a killer dwarf, a horrific night train murder ride, and a completely new and original use for expensive ink pens?
The final credits note the nursery rhyme which the killer uses to stage the murders was written by daughter Asia Argento.
What's not to like, except of course Artisan Entertainment's bare-bones, non-widescreen release of this movie? It doesn't ruin the experience, but it sure doesn't add to it. But don't shy away from the movie - Dario knows how to k

Awesome Gialli for Argento! - 3.5 out of 5 (4/10/2003)
This movie is great! If you like Argento than this one will satisfy and surpass your expectations. It has another great soundtrack by the Goblins! Great and classic Argento camera work. Fantastic pacing! And the kill-chase-suspense sequences are some of the best that I have ever seen; just wait till you see the opening train scene! This is another Dario masterpiece! The dvd is unfortunately in fullscreen only, but it isn't too bad. The transfer has good contrast and sharp detail. The colors look

A Nice return to form for Argento - 4.25 out of 5 (12/22/2001)
I was very intrigued by the storyline of this film, I think Argento has made a comeback with this film, and casting Max von Sydow was a stroke of pure genius. And of course Mr. von Sydow gives us another brilliant performance. The only thing that bothered me was some bad acting from some of the supporting cast. As for the DVD itself, I would have been completely satisfied if it included at least an anamorphic widescreen transfer, instead we have to settle for the dreaded full screen presentation
