The story of WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY on DVD has been a strange
one. The film was originally released onto disc as one of the first batch of
DVD's. That disc was a flipper with both wide and full screen versions on
the disc. It was also as bare bones as you can get.
Then came the re-release with the announcement that it would contain new
features that were worthy of this all-time classic and that it would be
provided in a full screen version, just as all of the fans had ask

I like this DVD, but I still wasted $17 plus for the DVD that came out 3 months ago. - 4.25 out of 5 (11/17/2001)
I like this DVD, but I still wasted $17 plus when I purchased the Special Edition without the Wide screen version. I think this was a plan to make more money to begin with from the movie company by first coming out with a Full screen version, then waiting a while to sell you another DVD with the Full screen. I feel I had to spend another $17 in order to get this Wide Screen special edition which is a waste of money. What do you think?
