Great Apes - 4.75 out of 5 (11/27/2001)
The consensus on PLANET OF THE APES says either you like the new vision that
is the work of Director Tim Burton or you hate it. There doesn't seem to be
any middle of the road feelings on the movie from all that I have read out
there.
Until now.
And, I know that it's just like me to come in with some namby pamby
response to a debate that is raging hard and fast in the forums and all
across the web. But honestly, I liked the original better, but I can still
see what Burton was drivi

More Fun Than A Barrel Full Of Monkeys?! - 4.75 out of 5 (11/19/2001)
Given the amount of care and work that seems to have gone into the double disc set of Planet of the Apes on DVD, I wouldn't be surprised if this DVD was far into production before the actual film was released into theaters.
As many of you know, Tim Burton's "re-imagining" of Planet of the Apes (as he preferred to call it) did not quite live up to expectations, although it didn't totally bomb at the box office either. Looking at this film a second time, I can't help to feel it's

Both are nice: the dvd and the movie.. - 4.75 out of 5 (12/29/2001)
I'm young, so I didn't see the first movie, but I remember that I saw parts of it sometime ago, so I can't make any comparisons...
As for the movie, it is really good, maybe not like the first, but nothing is equal to the first thing. First, the makeup is incredible and for the rest of the movie is very entertaining and you can have a good time with it; it's kinda adventure and action.
The dvd is the best part, with two discs FULL, and I mean FULL of extras, and mine even include a 3rd

Completely "new" POTA? - 3.25 out of 5 (12/23/2001)
I wasn't sure what to think when everyone started talking about "the new planet of the apes". People told me its great. Now that I bought it, I have to say I'm somewhat dissapointed. As usual, they spent a fortune on special effects and didn't really contribute anything to the story.
Once again, the original is still the best. The original is a sci-fi masterpiece.
