Synopsis As The Outlaw Josey Wales, two-time Academy Award® winner Clint Eastwood is ideally cast as a hard-hitting, fast-drawing loner, recalling his "Man with No Name" from his European Westerns. Empire Review Aged Eastwood holds up well - 4.5 out of 5  (12/3/2001) Clint Eastwood made his bones in the Western era as the "Man with no name" but my fondest memories of him will always be the ones where we were treated to a little history along with the character. His turn in UNFORGIVEN proved what power he had as a western hero, even when it was an anti-hero. For his work in that film, he was rewarded with four Oscars in 1992. But it was his role in THE OUTLAW JOSEY WALES that set up that film in my eyes. Josey was the original anti-hero.
