Is bigger better? - 4.25 out of 5 (12/3/2001)
APOCALYPSE NOW REDUX brings up the age-old question of is bigger necessarily
better?
Here we have a film that is already considered a classic in it's original
form which has a running time of 153 minutes. It was a film that portrayed
one of the most turbulent times of our era, and it did a good job at it. It
was also a film that spawned a fascinating documentary called HEARTS OF
DARKNESS that told the story of the hell that the cast went through in
making a film that took a year and a

Love the Redux, but... - 4 out of 5 (1/3/2003)
...I am so disappointed that there is no commentary by Coppola. And wouldn't it have been cool if there was another disc with bonus material...like his wife's documentary, "Hearts of Darkness"? Great film, bad DVD Features.

The horror.....the horror.... - 4.25 out of 5 (6/25/2002)
What can one say about the greatest Vietnam War masterpiece? This DVD version is interesting because it incorporates deleted scenes into the movie, as opposed to viewing them exclusively in a "special features" section. The scene at the French plantation is particularly interesting. Redux has made a great film like Apocalypse Now, even better.

A Classic...but not perfect dvd release - 4.5 out of 5 (5/17/2002)
I saw this in theaters...and it was amazing, yet when i bought the dvd hoping to re-experiance it as in theaters....i was sorely disapointed to know at the film has still yet to be released on any home-video format in it's full 2:35 image.
The Director of Photography is somewhat insecure about transfering 2:35 films in that ratio for home video..claims it 'loses' resolution & picture detail. So he crops the image to 2:1 or 2:10.....but either way...it appears more like 1:85 on my screen!!
