Here's your ultimate backstage pass to "the best rock and roll movie ever" (Joel Siegel, Good Morning America), the Academy Award®-winning Almost Famous. "With this Bootleg Cut, you feel much more like you're on tour with the band, and you have a chance to get to know the characters in much greater depth," says director Cameron Crowe. Featuring superb performances by Oscar®-nominated Kate Hudson and Frances McDormand, Almost Famous is "an utter delight from the first frame to fade out" (Lou Lumenick, New York Post).

Wow my childhood was boring ... - 5 out of 5 (12/4/2001)
You know, I have to admit, when Almost Famous was released in the theaters, I missed it. I know it was critically acclaimed, and the Oscar buzz was surrounding it from the first, but at the time I wasn't going to the movies as much as I usually do, and the film just kind of slipped through the cracks for me, which I will always regret. Films like this are what make going to the movies worthwhile. Actually, buy the time I finally did see the movie on DVD; it had already lost the award for Be

Buy This Movie - 4.5 out of 5 (5/15/2002)
I bought this dvd when it first came out. I love this version better then first, which is included on a seperate dvd. Almost 30 minutes of new film is added to this version, ever chapter has new material added to it some only 10 seconds other chapters have up to 2 minutes added. I liked this because it tell the stories alot better and make the movie even better then before.

Terrific, but also keep the first Almost Famous DVD - 5 out of 5 (12/5/2001)
I generally agree with the Empire Review.
However the extreme fan will hold on to their original Almost Famous DVD for two features NOT included on the Director's Edition:
A fascinating 25 minute "The Making of Almost Famous" is equal or superior to any of the special features on the Almost Famous-Untitled DVD. The original DVD also presents one of the most dramatic and intricate audio/video intro/menu screens in DVD (on an excellence par with any in the James Bond DVD series).
