Empire Review Shooting from..... - 3 out of 5  (10/15/2001) FROM THE HIP has its share of hits and misses. The movie starts off strong with some great comic scenes but then it becomes a fairly solid courtroom thriller. The script was the first effort from David E Kelley who has since proven that he knows his way around a courtroom by writing and directing television shows like THE PRACTICE and ALLY MACBEAL.
