They Came. They Saw. They Wanna Go Back.
Just Visiting is one very funny fish-out-of-water comedy the whole family will enjoy. It's 12th century France and Count Thibault of Malfete (Jean Reno, Mission: Impossible) finds his beautiful bride-to-be (Christina Applegate, TV's Jesse) done in by malevolent magic. So he and his loyal servant Andre (Christian Clavier, Les Visiteurs) request the help of a local wizard to right the wrong and bring his beloved back. But the wizardry goes awry and the pair is transported to 21st century Chicago where they meet Thibault's descendant Julia (Applegate) and her scheming fiancé. With their timeless values of honor and courage, they wreak havoc as they foil diabolical plots in modern-day Chicago and try to fin d their way back home.

Much better than the original - 3.75 out of 5 (2/11/2002)
LES VISITEURS was the highest grossing comedy in the country of France. The
movie was imported to American shores where it fizzled and failed in a cloud
of dust.
But then Jean Reno (who stared in LES VISITEURS) became a respectable star
in America. So it was up to Hollywood Pictures (and not just the city) to
give the film another chance. So they picked up the script, gave it a new
location and some different actors and tried again, with pretty much the
same results.
But still you

Can you read? See the Original ->Les Visiteurs (subtitled) - 2.5 out of 5 (2/7/2003)
This movie isn't a total waste of your time if you haven't seen Les Visiteurs. If you have, you will be seriously disappointed...
However, if you HAVE seen this movie, you will STILL want to see "Les Visiteurs" even if you didn't like this one!
I DONT want to set your expectations too high (no movie can live up to it), but you WILL enjoy the original!

Good Remake - 3.25 out of 5 (1/28/2003)
This was a remake of a French film but with better use of the 'contrast of the centuries'. Many of the best sight gags and situations from the original were kept, but the acting and writing were upgraded. It's now a coming of age story for the female lead and Ms. Applegate pulls it off with substantial aplomb. The male roles all depend on a solid performance from her.
