Snake isiBack
The man with the patch is back. Call him Snake. Kurt Russell rejoins filmmakers John Carpenter and Debra Hill to do to the Big Orange what they did to the Big Apple in Escape From New York - with even more futuristic thrills and slam-bang action!
Into the 9.6-quaked Los Angeles of 2013 comes Snake Plissken (Russell). His job: wade through L.A.'s ruined landmarks to retrieve a doomsday device. Don't miss the excitement as Snake surfs Wilshire Blvd., shoots hoops at the Coliseum, dive bombs the Happy Kingdom theme park, and mixes it up with a wild assortment of friends, fiends and foes (Stacy Keach, Steve Buscemi, Petter Fonda, George Corraface, Cliff Robertson, Pam Grier and more).

Impressive transfer! - 3.75 out of 5 (12/5/1999)
Although Paramount never seems to bother much

John Carpenter's flick has gotten a quality it
deserves; one which exceeds many DVDs I've seen,
even those approved by THX.
Firstly, the picture quality is very, very,
outstanding! The reason why this disc gets a top-
notch score is that it has fully balanced all the
blacks and grays, while sharpening its areas at the
same time. Th

Ah, at last. John Carpenter's Escape From L.A. has arrived on DVD. Too bad it happend to be released by a studio that doesn't care one bit about features. Not that it really matters, because I have been waiting to get this movie in it's widescreen format for the longest time. Carpenter's movies need to be experienced in widescreen, and they are always severly panned on tape.
Good audio and picture make up for the non-features, which at $29.99 is a rip off. But this movie is one to remember, a

LET'S DO IT MY WAY ! - 4.5 out of 5 (1/13/1999)
ESCAPE FROM L.A. is, in my opinion, John Carpenter's most important movie to date. At last, he has become one of the major american directors in spite of the fact that he usually works on fantastic or sci-fi material.
Snake Plissken is a rebel. He doesn't want to be part of the new America that years and years of intolerance, bigotry and stupid wars have created. It's not difficult to understand that John Carpenter is hiding right behind Snake and has a great time criticizing this future soci
