Harrison Ford stars as Jack Ryan in this explosive thriller based on Tom Clancy's international best-seller. His days as an intelligence agent behind him, former CIA analyst Jack Ryan has traveled to London to vacation with his wife (Anne Archer, Fatal Attraction) and child (Thora Birch, All I Want For Christmas). Meeting his family outside of Buckingham Palace, Ryan is caught in the middle of a terrorist attack on Lord Holmes (James Fox, The Russia House), a member of the Royal Family. Ryan helps to thwart Holmes' assailants and becomes a local hero. But Ryan's courageous act marks him as a target in the sights of the terrorist (Sean Bean, Stormy Monday) whose brother he killed. The Movie: Harrison Ford stars as Jack Ryan in this film based on the best selling book by Tom Clancy.
Unlike most action movies the hero in this film isn't out to save the world or even his country, he is out to save his wife and daughter. After sabotaging an assassination attempt, while on vacation in London, he and his family become the target of the terrorists. Ford's performance in this film is wonderful. Truth needs a soldier, and more DVD features! (Bad joke, I know) - 4 out of 5 (4/6/1999)
This is one of Harrison Ford's best movies. In the tradition of some of his other movies, the tension really does not let up when he is in trouble. There is a lot of fun military action also, plus a nice scene filmed at the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis. Action fans will enjoy this movie.
As you can tell by my stupid tag line, the DVD needs more features. The audio and Video are fine (although not 16X9 video), but a movie as great as this should have more thrown in then a trailor! I lo
