Best Oscar winner Rex Harrison reprises his signature stage role of Henry Higgins, the supremely assured phoeneticist who wagers that under his tutelage, cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle can pass for a duchess at the Embassy Ball. In one of her best loved roles, Audrey Hepburn plays Eliza. If ever there was a face the professor could grow accustomed to, it's hers.

Great picture, so-so sound - 3.75 out of 5 (2/1/2001)
This is, of course, one of the all time classics, suitable for the whole family.

The best DVD in my collection - 5 out of 5 (3/1/1999)
I heartily endorse Jeff McNeal's Empire review of this disk. I felt after 10 minutes that I was seeing this great film for the first time.
It's hard to imagine how it could be improved (short of releasing it remade for PAL and Region 2). The video is superb, the stunning quality of the restoration can be judged against unrestored scenes included as extras and the commentary by the restorer's and Gene Allen would be well worth the purchase if it was issued by itself.
Even with Shaw's terrif

A Great Musical, A Great Movie - 4.5 out of 5 (12/15/1998)
"My Fair Lady" is one of the great broadway musicals of all time. The filmed version starring the original Henry Higgins Rex Harrison and movie star Audrey Hepburn (instead of Julie Andrews, who co starred on Broadway) is a pure delight! Harrison's performance is a wonder to behold. Hepburn, despite the fact that her singing voice was dubbed by Marni Nixon, is a loverly Eliza Doolittle. Lerner and Loewe's music is memorable. All the supporting players are marvelous as well. George Cukor's d
