Police procedure melds with escalating tension in this suspense thriller directed by Barbet Schroeder (Single White Female), Ryan Gosling (The Believer) and Michael Pitt (Finding Forrester) chillingly lay bored rich kids who plan and execute a perfect murder, then watch the police fall for every clue. They figure they've gotten away with it. What they don't figure right is Cassie Mayweather.

Excellent thriller - 4.25 out of 5 (9/16/2002)
It seems as if everyone wants to make the next SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, and
these days you can't swing a dead body without hitting the very next attempt
at a film that will strike a similar chord in America's heart, and more
importantly their wallet.
Now, you might consider that cynical but take a look at all of the attempts
lately in the serial killer genre. I just came back from seeing yet another
in the theater and I figured I would top off a twisted Sunday with a viewing
of MURDER BY

for a whodunit movie. For once we get to know who are really the murderers early on but Cassie Mayweather played by Sandra Bullock must find out how they did it to bring them to justice. I've seen other better suspenseful movies and this wasn't as great as people said it was to be. Dvd was just your typical Warner bro animorphic transfer. Not perfect but just good. Audio was cool but nothing special. Finally, this dvd could had worked on some of its features.
