Peacemaker, The (1997) - 4.25 out of 5 (12/17/1998)
The Movie:
A train, carrying nuclear weapons, has crashed in the former Soviet Union. When it is discovered that the weapons have been stolen, a worldwide search begins to find the weapon before it's too late.
Although The Peacemaker was not a big box office hit, I must say that the movie is rather good. If nothing else it provides enough action and entertainment to keep it interesting until the very end. Politics also plays a rather large role in this one but overall it is b

Intense thrill ride, and excellent DVD - 5 out of 5 (6/10/1999)
This is a great thriller. When terrorists threaed to bring nuclear weapons to the U.S., it is up to a scientest and a military officer to stop it. The action gets really heavy in this smart film. It is also very well written and has a good plot, which not many action movies do.
The DVD's audio and video are top quality. And, for a non-special edition disc, this is really loaded. This is how all DVD's should be made.
A reference quality disc, way to go Dreamworks.

A very tense movie, and a great dvd. - 4.5 out of 5 (4/5/1999)
Dreamworks started off right by putting this film out as their first theatrical release. It's an extremely well done thriller that has been given a great treatment on dvd. The film is about a shipment of nuclear arms being stolen, and the u.s.'s attempt to recover them basically.
George Clooney is deadon as the soldier thrown into the middle of a volatile situation, and does a great job. Nicole kidman turns the sex appeal way down in this role and gives a fine performance as well as the ca

A Rare Intelligent Thriller...... - 4.75 out of 5 (3/7/1999)
The Peacemaker was one of the first DVD titles I've rented, and I was very impressed with it. Dreamworks threw in some nice features, including some very funny outtakes. George Clooney and Nicole Kidman are nicely paired in this brainy action thriller. The film was directed by Mimi Leder, who went on to make the very disappointing "Deep Impact". Here, her directing is tight and effective. The climatic chase in New York is tense, and is likely to have you on the edge of your seat.
