It could happenito you.
All roads lead to excitement with Kurt Russel in Breakdown, the non-stop thrill ride that's "a movie of nerve-frying intensity...Kurt Russell's best performance yet" (Rex Reed, New York Observer). Jeff Taylor (Russel) and his wife Amy (Kathleen Quinlan) are headed toward a new life in California when their car's engine dies on a remote highway. Amy accepts a ride from a helpful trucker (J.T. Walsh) while jeff waits with the car. But when jeff shows up at the agreed rendezvous, he finds his wife's not there. The locals aren't talking; the police aren't much help. With no one to turn to, Jeff battles his worst fears and begins a desperate, danger-ridden search to find Amy - before it's to late!

Take a Breakdown - 3.75 out of 5 (6/11/2001)
How many time shave you looked at the front of a DVD box and seen the words:
"It could happen to you." How many times have you said, no way in hell to
the very same thought.
Well, take a look at the same idea in BREAKDOWN and then think how easily
it could happen. And, that's the basic premise of the horror in the film
because while the rest of the movie makes for some unbelievable action, the
basic premise could happen in a heartbeat.
Jeff and Amy Taylor are a Massachusetts couple

The Movie:
When their car breaks down in the middle of nowhere Jeff and Amy Taylor are glad to accept help from a seemingly nice trucker. As Jeff sends Amy on her way with the trucker all of their problems seem to be solved. That is until he goes to the rendezvous and she is nowhere to be found. When Jeff's world is turned upside down and the police can't help, he must take matters into his own hands and find his wife before it's too late.

Excellent film on a poor DVD - 3.75 out of 5 (5/9/1999)
This is a white nuckle tense action thriller. It relies on good old action and intelligence rather then special effects and does an excellent job. This is a definate movie for anyone who like to be on the edge of their seat. It gives you a feeling of being traped in an unimaginatively bad situation.
The DVD is not so good. Only a trailer for features, non anamorphic video, and all at a pretty high price.
Still, a great movie and worth a purchase.

HALF HITCHCOCK, HALF HITCHER - 4.25 out of 5 (12/10/1998)
The first movie of director Jonathan Mostow is a really good one. He plays with the fear most of urban people nowadays suffer from : To stay alone in an unknown place without a car or a phone at hand.
The film is clearly divided in two parts. The first one smells a little too much Hitchcock's " THE LADY VANISHES " but it could be considered as an homage to the Master of suspense and, anyway, you enjoy these scenes involving a Kurt Russell asking himself whether he's crazy or not.

Great film is spoiled by poor packaging! - 3.75 out of 5 (12/10/1998)
I have always been a fan of Kurt Russell. Indeed I can't remeber watching one of his films without enjoying it. Breakdown is no exception. It is a fast paced thriller with enough twists and turns to keep the viewer glued to the screen. As with all Paramount releases however, extras are non-existent. Don't let that put you off. Audio and video are top notch. Buy it.
