Empire Review Here's a switch - 3 out of 5  (6/11/2001) SWITCHBACK is one of those films that doesn't have all the good elements necessary to make it a good film, but it does have enough good elements to make it a decent attempt at a thriller. The thing is that the movie really piles on the plot devices. It makes for such a long story that we find ourselves wondering exactly which of the plot points are necessary. It's winter in Colorado and a FBI agent is tracing a serial killer. He has to cope with his superiors who don't want him anymore to solve this case and with local sheriffs more concerned by their reelection than by the arrest of the killer.
