Empire Review I have the power - 4 out of 5  (10/29/2001) Hollywood is filled with little ironies. For example: The toy line of MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE was actually a failed attempt at making a toy line for the film CONAN THE BARBARIAN. However, executives at Mattel took one look at an early screening for the film and then decided it was too adult to sell to kids. A mistake had the toys already in production and they were forced to make a new line out of them. When I saw it was being released on DVD part of me wanted to see it again to bring back some great memories. The other part of me said leave it alone, let memories remain as they are so not to be spoilt. However I received this as a present off my fiance (she wanted to get me something I wouldn't expect!) and after viewing the trailer found myself looking forward to a nostalgic trip.
