Empire Review Mixed Bag - 3.5 out of 5  (9/4/2001) EDDIE AND THE CRUISERS is one of those movies I remember fondly from my past. Watching it today, I have to wonder if this is still the case. After putting a little more thought into the subject, I decided that the film could be seen on two different levels, which explains my schizophrenic view. From a critical standpoint, the film is a bust. It sets up a glorious premise about the supposed death of a rock star, but it never delivers the climax.
